![]() ![]() As Ross puts it, "There was a starting budget for Days Gone, which was big, but it’s not where we ended. Growing the company in this way made the game a lot more expensive than originally planned. We changed our number from 45 to something like 120." ![]() Ross went onto mention that "the calculus for Sony at this point is… when a game like Days Gone started, we were 45 people, we were walking around asking how we could build an open-world game with 45 people, and the answer was, we grew. That's one of the things where I don't wanna be the guy to be the official source for whatever that is." I don't think it's publically confirmed, what the status of it is. I don't think that that's clear to the public. In a wide-ranging conversation that reacted explicitly to Schreier's Bloomberg report, Ross told Jaffe: "I won't confirm the status of Days Gone 2. Although Ross has left Sony Bend and now works at NetherRealm Studios, you've got to assume that he still knows a lot about the fate of the Days Gone franchise. The director of Days Gone, Jeff Ross, appeared in a four-hour video on the YouTube channel of David Jaffe (director of the original God of War). Although the first game had been profitable, its development had been lengthy and critical reception was mixed, so a Days Gone 2 wasn’t seen as a viable option."Īnd then, on 11th April, the plot thickened. In a report published by Bloomberg on 9th April, well-connected games journalist Jason Schreier said: "Oregon-based Sony Bend, best known for the 2019 open-world action game Days Gone, tried unsuccessfully to pitch a sequel that year, according to people familiar with the proposal. The vinyl will contain 25 tracks from the game, 20 of which are by composer Nathan Whitehead, and will be available to pre-order right here from Wednesday 11th September onwards.Although the Days Gone developers at Sony Bend have not released an official statement about Days Gone 2 being developed or cancelled, talk around the web has recently put this zombie-stuffed franchise back in the spotlight. Ross says that “this is the perfect opportunity to return to the Pacific Northwest”, which is clear indication of Bend Studio trying to do things to provide some more longevity to their game and keep their player base interested.Īdditionally, Ross also announced that Mondo are releasing the Days Gone soundtrack on vinyl. Both of these new difficulty modes and New Game Plus will have new trophies specific to them, including one which Ross says is related to a “mysterious new weapon from an agent that only operates in the shadows”. Neither of these new modes are specific to New Game Plus, meaning that any player can choose to play the game on these difficulty settings even if they’re brand new to the game. New Game Plus will be available to play on any difficulty, including two new difficulty modes that are being added to the game – Hard II and Survival II. To gain access to New Game Plus you’ll have to have completed the “I’m Never Giving Up” storyline. Perks from patches earned in challenges will also carry over in to New Game Plus, so Ross is encouraging players to “go for gold in each challenge in order to maximize your gameplay perks before NG+ releases”. ![]() Most of you will already know what New Game Plus will entail, but if you don’t then it gives players the opportunity to start the game over again while keeping hold of their previously earned weapons, bike upgrades, NERO boosters, skills, recipes, encampment trust and credits, collectibles, and trophy progress. In that case, fans will be happy to hear that it will be introduced the game through a free downloadable update on Friday 13th September, as long as nothing goes wrong of course! Bend Studio has announced that Days Gone will be getting a New Game Plus mode next week.Īs detailed in a post by Days Gone’s Game Director Jeff Ross, New Game Plus has been the most requested feature since the game launched back in April. ![]()
